There’s just something about a safari to Masai Mara… the name itself brings up images of great sweeping plains, a good concentration of lions and massive herds of wildebeests crossing the Mara River. This is Kenya’s popular wildlife parks.

There are two ways to reach this glorious safari park – you can drive for approximately 5 hours overland or you can take an easy flight from Nairobi in under 1 hour. Flying is the most convenient, comfortable way to make the most of your holiday time. We’ll bring you to the airport in Nairobi, making sure you’re well settled on your flight.

Then, enjoy the immense views of Kenya from above. At the Masai Mara airstrip, you’ll be picked up and brought to your safari lodge or camp. All you have to do here is sit back and enjoy the scenery.

The Masai Mara Reserve is famous for its abundance of Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino. On your game drives these great plains will also offer zebra, Thompson’s gazelle, cheetah and countless wildebeest. Plus, many other species of land and water animals such as hippo and crocodiles. Your 2-days Maasai Mara air safari is inclusive of roundtrip flights, park entrance fees, game drives, accommodations, meals and hotel airport transfers.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara
    Today you’ll start off your African safari tour with an early pickup from your hotel in Nairobi/ Nairobi airport at 7:00 am. – A representative of Big 5 Africa Safaris will collect you for the short transfer to Wilson Airport where you’ll board your approximately one-hour scenic Kenya flight to the Masai Mara game reserve. Enjoy a birds – eye view of the Kenyan landscape as you make your way to the great Masai Mara Game Reserve. During the mid-morning hours you’ll touch down at the Masai Mara airstrip where you’ll be met by your African Vulture Safaris guide who will take you for your first quick game drive en-route as you proceed  to your Masai Mara accommodation to settle in and get ready for lunch. On this day, you can make plans with your guide about your first safari experience in the Mara, The Mara is the richest ecosystem in the region with over 95 mammal species. There are plenty of big cats here along with imposing grazers – elephants, giraffes, rhinos, and buffalos. If you are here during the season of the Kenya Great Migration (July – October) you’ll be treated to the greatest movement of animals on the planet. At the Mara River uncountable herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles flood across from the Serengeti on their yearly trek in search of food. Note: For those guests staying at conservancies who wish to travel to the Mara triangle area to view the Great Migration river crossings, there is a $100 per person surcharge. We’ll ready ourselves for afternoon game drives, returning to the camp/lodge after sunset where dinner and overnight awaits.
  • Day 2: Masai Mara – Nairobi
    Wrapping up your African safari holiday, we’ll get up early to catch the dawn and pack in as much animal viewing as possible. The morning light creates a peaceful atmosphere for both safari-goers and the wildlife as it steps into the new day. Breakfast follows at your accommodation. Enjoy the sounds and sights of the park all around you. Soon it’s time to hop back into your safari vehicle. You’ll get a last chance to experience a game drive en-route as you head to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi bringing your adventure safari in Kenya to an end. Touchdown at Wilson Airport will be at around 12:45 hrs. Where you’ll be met by African Vulture Safaris guide for the transfer back to your hotel/ the Nairobi airport for your flight back home.
